ROOFTOP TENT This TopOak Galaxy pro is on my truck and I LOVE it. Total game changer. Camping on the roof means no mud, no dust, no snow, no creepy ground critters. Now I can camp anywhere, any time. High-quality materials, fast set-up and take-down, full-featured. Highly recommend.
270 AWNING Rain, Sun, Snow... No problem. Deploys in seconds. Built-in LED lighting. Fold-down legs. Optional accessories like the Awning Room. This is the exact same one I have on my truck.
AWNING ROOM Turns your 270 awning into a full-on tent living room. Stay warm in cold climates or turn it into a bug screen room. This is the exact same one I have on my truck.
SHOWER ROOM Privacy in seconds. Pop it out, roll it down. Use as a toilet or shower room. Even has a roof in case it's raining. Roll it up and put it away just as fast. This is the exact same one I have on my truck.
WATER TANK 8 gallons of water wherever you need it. Hook up a bike pump or small compressor to pressurize it. Easy to fill with the large top opening. Lots of ways to attach it on top of your vehicle or in your truck bed like me. This is the exact same one I have on my truck.
DRAWER SLIDES These are the 5-foot long, 500 pound, locking drawer slides I used in both of my Overlanding truck videos.
MACHINE SCREWS These are the machine screws I used to connect the "Sliders" to the heavy duty drawer slides. They screwed into the threaded inserts which I installed in the "Slider Frame"... you'll also need to purchase those treaded inserts.
THREADED INSERTS These are the 1/4-20 threaded inserts I installed in the "Slider Base" to accept machine screws for attaching to the heavy duty drawer slides. I also used them in other parts of the project (like for the "Utility Boxes").
BED LINER PAINT This Herculiner paint is very durable and has an aggressive texture. It's pretty awesome stuff. Make sure you use an OIL-BASED primer. Plan on applying two coats. One gallon was enough for my "Sliders" and accessories.
TURNBUCKLE This is a special kind of stainless steel turnbuckle called a "Jaw and Jaw Turnbuckle" which was necessary to push the front of the "Slider Base" down and forward toward the front of the truck bed. This is what locks my whole system down to the truck securely.
MIRROR CAM This was a necessity for me because with my SmartCap camper shell I can't see behind my truck. This mounts over the rear-view mirror and connects to front and back cameras. Now I can see THROUGH my shell. But of course it's also an awesome front/back dash cam that records everything as I drive.
2040 ALUMINUM Extrusion that I mounted on the underside of each "Shelf Panel" to stiffen it and reduce bowing. I used two per panel but one on each panel would probably be enough for most people, you could always add more later.
L-TRACK Low profile L-Track that I used on my "Sliders" and "Shelf" for gear attachment points. There are lots of accessories available.
L-TRACK STUD Short sections of L-Track that you can put anywhere to use with L-Track accessories.
SCREWS Used to attach L-Track to 1/2" plywood.
L-TRACK STUD Handy little attachment points if you install L-Track in your build.
L-TRACK RINGS Accessories for your L-Track to attach bungee cords, straps, etc.
STAINLESS L-BRACKETS These are the heavy duty stainless steel L-brackets I used to connect the parts of my "Slider Base."
STOVE What can I say... I love this stove! The Coleman Cascade 222 was perfect for my setup. It's a classic design but has really great power and flame control (for simmering, etc.)
FRYING PAN If you've never used a "carbon steel" pan, do some research. It's my new favorite thing! Similar benefits to cast iron with less weight. This one has a detachable handle for easy camping storage.
SILICONE MAT Because I'm using my camp stove on my tailgate, I wanted to make spills and grease splatter easy to clean up. This mat was perfect for that and comes in a lot of difference sizes.
SINK This is the collapsible sink I use to wash dishes, but it also doubles a container and cutting board. It fits perfectly in my drawer.
DRYING RACK Collapsible dish drying rack that goes right along side my collapsible sink.
FLEXHEAD This is the flexible hose I attach to my TopOak water tank as a faucet. It comes with a quick-connect fitting and works great!
KETTLE Because of it's compact height, this little stainless kettle fit perfectly into my DeWalt top box. Looks great, pours nicely.
COFFEE GRINDER When I'm camping I like to make my bean juice by hand so it warms me up twice. This little guy works great and fits in side my DeWalt drawer boxes perfectly.
COFFEE CREAM The best coffee creamer I know of for camping, because it tastes good, doesn't require refrigeration, and is healthier than most liquid chemical creamers. (Put it in a re-sealable plastic container.) I even use it at home. Try it!
COFFEE FROTHER I use Laird dry coffee creamer (love it) when I'm camping, but you need one of these frothers to stir all the clumps out. This one is compact and usb-c rechargeable.
BOTTLES These air-tight, locking travel bottles are really well designed. They won't leak as while you drive down that bumpy dirt road or dramatically change altitude. I trust them for things like olive oil, bio-degradable soap and pancake syrup.
BOTTLE OPENER Stainless steel, black, opens your beer. 'Nuff said.
YETI COOLER A pricey upgrade but a total beast. If you are not using an electric fridge, you need a cooler with really good insulation. This one fit my sliders perfectly and keeps ice frozen for days.
PLATES Stainless steel plates. Easy to clean and bomb-proof.
MUGS Stainless, easy to clean, bomb-proof, insulated, stackable and compact. Maybe not "your favorite novelty mug" but great utility mugs for the kit, especially if you want to share a brew with fellow campers.
TOWEL HOLDER Paper towel holder... A really convenient feature for your overland build. I attached mine to the underside of my SmartCap rear door.
TOWEL COVER This is just a stuff sack but it happens to be the exact size needed to cover a roll of paper towels. This keeps the paper towel roll on my paper towel holder clean and dry while driving.
SKEWERS Collapsible skewers for marshmallows... or it's not even camping.
PANTRY BOX This is the bag I'm using as a "pantry" for dry non-refrigerated foods right next to my cooler.
PROPANE TANK I love this little "Gas Growler" because it's the perfect size for a 2-4 day camping trip. I'm talking coffee, hot breakfast and dinners. Refillable so you don't waste disposable propane bottles.
PROPANE GAUGE You gotta know how much propane you've got left... This gauge is really handy.
PROPANE HOSE Connect your Coleman camp stove to a larger re-fillable propane tank with this adapter hose. Avoid using disposable 1-pound bottles.
TANK MOUNT This is the perfect mounting bracket for your small propane tank. Although I don't like the metal strap, I replaced it with two strong velcro straps so it's easier to access my tank for filling and using. The metal strap would be necessary for some applications, especially outside your vehicle.
EDGE TRIM Self-adhesive rubber edge trim to protect sharp edges. I used this on my propane tank mount because it was scratching the pain on my tank. Problem solved.
VELCRO STRAPS I used these all over my truck. For example, connecting gear to the molle panels on my SmartCap side doors and strapping down water jugs, propane tanks, etc.
STRAP EYE LOOP The perfect attachment point for velcro straps or even tie-down ratchet straps.
POWER STATION This is how I power my entire camping setup. Nice and compact. After using it several times, I can confidently power lights, diesel heater and other small accessories for two nights without recharging. Love it... highly recommend.
CABLE (A) Pair this with "Cable (B)" to connect your TopOak roof top tent to a Bluetti power bank.
CABLE (B) Pair this with "Cable (A)" to connect your TopOak roof top tent to a Bluetti power bank.
POUR-OVER This was a really fun little find... It's the perfect collapsible coffee dripper. I keep cleanup simple with disposable paper filters that I can just toss when I'm done.
DIESEL HEATER I can’t say enough about how much this has changed camping for me. Waking up to a cold, wet tent is the worst. Diesel heaters produce a very dry heat, which not only keeps you warm but also prevents condensation. Snow camping? Finally yes. The control range is impressive too—crank it up and your tent becomes an oven in a storm, or turn it way down to just take the edge off. The remote lets you adjust the temperature from your sleeping bag. It runs on 12V power and diesel, so I connect it to my Bluetti power bank and bring a small fuel can. And of course—don’t forget a carbon monoxide alarm for safety.
CO ALARM This is a rechargeable, portable Carbon Monoxide detector and alarm for your tent. If you are running a diesel heater it's critical for your safety.
HEATER DUCT The duct that came with my Diesel heater was too short to reach my tent on top of my truck. This is the correct diameter and is designed specifically for tent heaters. It's flexible and lined with heat-reflecting material for efficiency.
ADAPTER CABLE This was necessary to connect my diesel heater to my Bluetti power bank.
TIRE TABLE Love this little table that latches on to my tire. This is the aluminum version, which is much lighter than the steel. They are available in various different sizes but the "small" was just right to keep my diesel tent heater off the ground.
WATER HEATER This on-demand water heater is a TRUE LUXURY. There's nothing like a hot shower in the middle of the wilderness. It has its own rechargeable battery and propane bottle, so it's completely self sufficient. Just drop one hose in a water bucket and attach the shower head to the side of your truck with the magnetic mount. Highly recommend. TIP: For an extra hot shower, run the water back into the bucket for a minute to pre-heat it before showering.
BUCKET This collapsible bucket is perfect for showering with my on-demand water heater but I can be used for so much more. It's a simple camping essential.
LEVELING BLOCKS A must have if you are sleeping inside or on top of your truck! I bought two packs because I end up in some pretty rough terrain.
BUBBLE LEVEL Nice to know your truck is level if you are sleeping inside or on top of your truck bed.
CAMP LIGHT Bright, rechargeable camp light on a tall, sturdy telescoping stand. It's the first light I set up if I'm pulling into camp late, before connecting all of my other lighting. Also great for a picnic table or other area away from your overloading rig. Lots of cool features. Very well made... Highly recommend.
LED LIGHT BAR Highly recommend! These are the rechargeable, magnetic light bars that I attach to the underside of my SmartCap doors. Lots of features including battery level indicator, adjustable color temperature, dimmable, remote control, and each comes with 2 magnet bases so you can use them in more than one place. I might upgrade to a hard-wired lighting system someday but for now these are perfect.
STRING LIGHTS Give your campsite warm & cozy vibes! These string lights are 40 feet long, have a built-in rechargeable battery and built-in solar panel. Remote control. Easy to wind back up. As far as I can tell they can last at lest a couple evenings. They look great and make it easier to see too.
CARABINERS Small, light-weight carabiners that have a thousand uses. Mainly I got them to make it easier to hang my string lights on my TopOak awning and around my truck.
FOLDING STOOL I needed a lightweight, collapsable stool to reach the top of my truck, especially since its lifted. This one is great. You can also use it as a tiny table.
TOILET Everyone poops. You can fact-check me on that. For camping, I've tried lots of different kinds of toilets, including the fancy "flushing" kind. My experience tells me simpler is better, and this is my favorite solution. Poop in a bag, tie it tight, throw it away. Pair this with an airtight BUCKET and deodorant desiccants as needed for times you are away from dumpsters for a few days. Remember to "leave no trace."
TP HOLDER This thing is great... it keeps toilet paper dry and convenient. Hang it anywhere. I wouldn't say it's #1, but it's definitely #2.
TOILET BAGS Not just your average trash bag... you don't want your toilet bag to LEAK. Compatible with the collapsible toilet I use.
BUCKET LID This lid locks on to a 3.5 gallon or 5 gallon bucket and makes the perfect AIRTIGHT travel trash can. You can even trust it with your poo bags. Highly recommend.
STORAGE BAG The perfect size for keeping several spare rolls of paper towels and toilet paper dry. It's great to have dedicated storage for awkward items like that.
FENDER FLARES This was the first thing I added to my truck after I bought it. The larger tires were already installed and it just felt kinda naked until I put these fender flares on. The installation process wasn't too bad and you do NOT need to drill holes in your truck.
DRAWER PULLS Low-profile drawer pulls for the narrow clearance between your drawer fronts and tailgate.
SHELF LINER Used to line the "Large Drawers" that attach to the underside of my "Main Sliders." Use spray-on contact adhesive and then trim the edges with a utility knife.
SHELL CLAMPS I needed camper shell clamps that bolted from the top down to attach my "Shelf Supports." So I replaced mine with these. I also like that they are black and it was an upgrade from 6 clamps to 8.
GRAB HANDLES I wanted a few additional handles to make accessing the top of my truck easier and safer, so I attached these to the T-track on the sides of my TopOak tent.
ANCHOR Tie-down anchor hooks... just another way to connect bungee cords, rope, ratchet straps, etc. I put these in a few places including the under side of my "Shelf."
MAGNETS This is the magnet I used as a drawer catch for the "Small Drawers," but they are extremely handy for all sorts of things because of how they amount securely with a screw through the middle.
TOGGLE LATCH Used to lock my "Shelf" down to the "Shelf Supports."
TABLE BUCKLE Used to lock together my "Shelf Panels" so they create one large shelf and do not bow individually.
M8 EYE BOLTS These are compatible with the threaded mounting holes in the roof of my SmartCap and allow me to attach cargo nets.
TRACK EYE BOLTS Stainless steel track-mount tie down eyelids that are compatible with the T-track on the side of my TopOak water tank. I used them to connect cargo nets.
LARGE NET These are great for keeping gear organized, especially when you have L-Track connection points everywhere.
SMALL NET These are great for keeping gear organized, especially when you have L-Track connection points everywhere.
BUNGEE HOOKS Small bungee cords with hooks on one end... I used these to secure my DeWalt drawer boxes down to the L-Track hooks on my "Sliders."
KAYAK HANDLES I added these handles to several accessory boxes I made for things like leveling blocks and water jugs.
FIRST AID KIT This is the perfect size first aid kit for your truck. It fits everything you need and nothing you don't. (It comes empty so you'll need to stock it.) But as a firefighter EMT I hate pre-made first aid kits... they're all bandaids and fluff. Put some actual trauma gear in this thing - like tourniquets (and LEARN how to USE them) for when (not if) you have a real emergency.
FIRE MOUNT This fire extinguisher mount connects to any hard surface in your truck and deploys quickly with a quick-release pin. Great for when your camping neighbors do something stupid.
RECOVERY TRACKS Just in case... Because I wouldn't want to be "that guy."
LED ROAD FLARE Safety first... Rechargeable LED road flares. I want to stay visible when I need to change my own tire or help someone else on the side of the road.
FOLDING SHOVEL I attached this to the underside of my SmartCap door in case I needed it for mud or snow. You never know!
STARLINK MINI I love being in nature and disconnecting from the digital world—but it’s nice to have the option to connect when needed. As a husband and dad, being able to check in with my family on adventures matters. And for navigation or emergencies, internet access can be invaluable. This little dish gives you full internet access almost anywhere.
STARLINK CASE Keeps my Starlink Mini safe while traveling and has room for cords and accessories.
STARLINK MOUNT This is how I connect my Starlink Mini to the top of my TopOak rooftop tent. I like how this one can TILT so I can orient it correctly even with the tent up at an angle.
STARLINK CABLE This cable woks perfectly to power your Starlink Mini to a Bluetti power bank.
STARLINK BATTERY When I'm settled into camp, I run the Starlink internet dish on my Bluetti power bank. But if I need to connect to the internet for quick road-side navigation or check-in with my family this is pretty convenient and requires less setup.
CHARGING CABLE If you buy the Starlink Mini battery that I listed, this cable lets you charge it while you travel down the road.
SOLAR PANEL This 200 watt solar panel will keep your battery bank charged and extend your trips! It's very efficient and has some pretty cool features.
SOLAR MOUNTS Mounting brackets for attaching a solar panel to cross bars on your truck or roof top tent.
SOLAR CABLE If you purchase the solar panel I listed, this extension cable will help you run it from your roof-top down to your truck bed so it can charge your battery bank.
POP 'N' LOCK Pretty annoying that generation 2 Tundra doesn't have an automatic locking tailgate... This kit fixes that, so the tailgate locks and unlocks when you use the key fob with the rest of your doors. Not too difficult to install. Keeps gear safe and convenient to access. HIGHLY recommend for gen 2 Tundra if you have a camper shell (cap).
BUG NET I used to hate bugs, but now they hate me. Sorry, not sorry.
GEAR BINS These storage bins are collapsible, light-weight and fairly study. In my video you would have seen three of these on my truck's right-side "Slider" full of camping gear. They break down flat when you're not using them.
PASS THE PIGS My kids favorite game! Also great to break the ice with camping neighbors. Travel friendly, fits in your pocket, easy to learn, and is even more interesting on an uneven surface like a rock haha!
